About the Company:My client are a forward-thinking and innovative financial services institution, recognised as a leader in the Australian market. As part of their digital transformation journey, the company is expanding its cloud data capabilities and is looking for an experienced GCP Data Platform Engineer to help build scalable and efficient data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Role Overview:As a GCP Data Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and managing data pipelines, architectures, and platforms in the cloud. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data integration and operational efficiency, leveraging modern cloud technologies and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and build scalable, high-performance data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Develop and manage infrastructure using Terraform for automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient deployment and integration processes
- Work with data warehousing solutions, particularly BigQuery, to handle large datasets and complex queries
- Implement and manage workflow automation and orchestration using Airflow
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to optimise data flows and system performance
- Ensure best practices in security, compliance, and cost optimisation across the cloud data infrastructure
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in designing and managing data platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Hands-on experience with Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) automation
- Strong proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Expertise with Google BigQuery for data warehousing and analytics
- Experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration
- Solid understanding of cloud security principles and best practices
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in an agile, fast-paced environment
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in the financial services industry
- Knowledge of additional cloud services such as AWS or Azure
- Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages for data engineering tasks
