As a Principal Performance Engineer, you will take ownership of designing and optimising large-scale systems, ensuring they meet the demands of a rapidly evolving and high-growth environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive performance strategies, and mentor others to achieve operational excellence. You will be chasing milliseconds of efficiency within an organisation that handles millions of requests per day.Responsibilities:

  • Performance Leadership: Drive system-wide performance strategies, resolving bottlenecks, and ensuring reliability and scalability.
  • Testing & Optimisation: Oversee performance testing efforts, develop performance benchmarks, and fine-tune applications, databases, and infrastructure.
  • Monitoring & Diagnostics: Implement robust performance monitoring tools and practices, enabling proactive identification of potential issues.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with software development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to integrate performance best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Innovation: Identify and implement emerging technologies to continuously improve system performance.
  • Mentorship: Lead and mentor engineering teams to elevate performance standards across the organisation.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in performance engineering, particularly in high-volume, low-latency environments.
  • Advanced skills in optimising large-scale distributed systems, databases, and networks.
  • Tool Proficiency: Hands-on experience with tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, Dynatrace, New Relic, Grafana, and similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++) and scripting for automation.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and an in-depth understanding of operating systems and distributed architectures.
